Tewksbury Fields
18Oct09
The Tewksbury Athletic Association uses a variety of fields in Tewksbury, all with different nuances and restrictions. For an address, driving directions or a map: go to your sport and click on "Venues".
This quick note is to allow the coaches, parents, and taxpayers to understand a little bit of how we use the fields, why some of the decisions have been made, and what we can expect in the future.
The fields........
OLDWICK FIELD
Oldwick Field are considered the centerpiece of the athletic activities in Tewksbury. It was
acquired by the Township of Tewksbury from the Tewksbury Township Board of Education in 2003.
In 2005, through private fundraising efforts, a private/public partnership gave Oldwick a new
playground which is up to modern safety standards.
Oldwick Field Park consists of 20 acres and is the main athletic venue in the Township.
There are three baseball fields and a batting cage. During the fall, the fields are remarked for soccer.

which is utilized by the Oldwick Fire Company and the affordable housing units which have been
built and will soon be the home for United Cerebral Palsy residents.
Based upon a prior commitment, there was a preliminary plan to construct a multi-use field,
however, we understand that due to the Township’s obligation to provide COAH, the multi-use field
may not be constructed.

Maintainance
The fields are all maintained by the Tewksbury Township DPW. Significant efforts are also put in by our coaches in order to insure the fields are playable.
In order to keep fields in playable shape and to insure that they don't fall into the type of disrepair that causes major outages and costly maintaince grass needs to be re-grown from time to time. Without a source of water, this can not occur. To provide for normal maintaince a well was placed at the Christie Hoffman fields and public water (no well) will be accessed at the Fairmount North field. The water at Fairmount North was also requested by the Equestrian community.
